Akamai says it has finished patching its Compute hypervisors against the known vulnerabilities tied to CVE-2026-99999, the guest-to-host KVM escape also called PwnEscape, and has found no sign of exploitation on its platform. The update was posted at 05:07 UTC on October 17 (13:07 Beijing time). Akamai now recommends that customers upgrade the kernels inside their Linode guest VMs as fixed kernels from upstream OS vendors become available, especially where less trusted workloads run in containers or nested virtualization. The company is also preparing images that include the upstream fixes.
