BandwagonHost Completes Emergency Host Reboots for CVE-2026-99999

BandwagonHost has marked its emergency security maintenance for CVE-2026-99999, the critical KVM guest-escape vulnerability, as resolved, and its status page now shows all systems operational. The status was updated at 3:49 AM PDT on October 18 (18:49 Beijing time), ahead of the scheduled window end of 23:00 PST on October 18. During the maintenance every physical host was patched and rebooted, so VPS instances were paused for about 6 to 7 minutes in most cases, with interruptions of up to roughly 15 to 20 minutes, and some restarted. BandwagonHost chose immediate reboots over live migration because migrating ahead of each host reboot would have taken about two weeks.

The work requires rebooting the physical hosts: VPS instances are paused while their host reboots, and some may also restart. BandwagonHost asks customers to allow about 15 to 20 minutes of interruption, with most pauses lasting around 6 to 7 minutes, though some may take longer. Because migrating every VPS before each reboot would take about two weeks, the company is prioritizing immediate patching and cannot schedule per-host windows in advance. The maintenance window runs from 19:00 PST on October 15 to 23:00 PST on October 18.
