Contabo Investigates PHP CVE-2026-115560 and Recommends Session Mitigation

Contabo opened an investigating advisory after the PHP project published informational guidance on CVE-2026-115560, a potential remote code execution path in PHP session handling that the project rates as unlikely in typical configurations. Contabo recommends customers set session.upload_progress.enabled=0 and restart PHP now; anyone who already applied that setting after the October 21 advisory needs no further change. A full fix is expected in the next regular PHP release, and Contabo still recommends upgrading to patched 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, or 8.2.35 where applicable.
Contabo CVE-2026-99999 Host Patching 99% Done, Nearly All Unreachable Hosts Restored

Contabo reports that patching of its VPS and VDS host systems for CVE-2026-99999 is 99% complete. At 15:28 on October 20 (Asia/Shanghai), 12 host systems were still unreachable after the updates. In a later update at 23:08, Contabo said the majority of systems are up and running again, with only host system 13841 still known to be unreachable. The team is working to restore the remaining host.

Contabo has posted an update on its emergency patching for the Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2026-99999. Updates to VPS host systems are nearly complete, and VDS host systems will be patched next. Following the updates, some host systems are currently unreachable, and Contabo says its team is working to restore them as quickly as possible. The host systems known to be affected are 15404, 24812, 13888, 31940, 24580, 22541, 15915, 28472, 24601, 20800, 28261, 27593, 18343, 18194, 28372, 17176, 17575 and 17289. VDS customers should expect restarts during the next phase, and Contabo recommends keeping recent backups and making sure services start automatically after a reboot.
Contabo Completes Switch to New Customer Control Panel, Moves Support Fully In-Panel

Contabo has completed the move to its new Customer Control Panel (CCP) for all services except Dedicated Servers. The usual panel login address now opens the new CCP directly, so existing bookmarks keep working. Customers who sign in with their old panel password may be asked to set a new password once. Support requests now go only through the CCP, via an AI assistant or a ticket, and emails to the former support address get an automated reply. Contacts from the old panel were not migrated; main users should create Sub-Users under Account > User Management instead. Dedicated Server features stay in a separate area opened from a menu item in the new CCP and are due to move in early 2027. The Add-On Manager is now fully live in the CCP as well.

Contabo is urgently patching all VPS and VDS host systems for CVE-2026-99999, a critical Linux kernel vulnerability (CVSS 9.3) disclosed on October 15. In virtualized environments it could let a workload interfere with the underlying host and the isolation between customers. Patches are being rolled out gradually and each host must be rebooted, so customers should expect their VPS or VDS to restart at some point during the patching period. Given the urgency and the number of hosts involved, Contabo says it cannot send individual advance notice for each one. Customers are advised to keep recent backups and make sure applications and services start automatically after a reboot. Progress updates will be posted on Contabo's status page when necessary.
Contabo Sydney Transfer Speeds Hit by Australia–Singapore Subsea Cable Break

Contabo says customers in Sydney may at times see slower data transfer speeds because a submarine cable between Australia and Singapore is broken. Repairs are currently expected in November, though that timeline may change, and Contabo is rerouting traffic to reduce the impact. In the same update, Contabo said its Object Storage performance issue now only affects the APAC region, with EU and US Object Storage working normally; automated backups continue as bandwidth and performance allow. Separately, the Sydney data centre operator plans an exceptional maintenance on October 15 from 15:00 to 18:00 Beijing time (07:00–10:00 UTC), with no downtime expected.
