RackNerd Completes CVE-2026-99999 Response, Entire KVM VPS Fleet Now Protected

RackNerd has finished its response to the CVE-2026-99999 (PwnEscape) Linux kernel vulnerability. Most host nodes were protected earlier with verified live patches and no reboot. Nodes where live patching was not possible or could not be fully verified were rebooted into patched kernels, with downtime expected to be under 10 minutes in most cases. After final verification, RackNerd says 100% of its KVM VPS fleet is protected and it has found no evidence of exploitation. One San Jose node, SJRYZEN100, failed to initialize after its reboot and needed on-site troubleshooting; it has since been restored. No customer action is required.
RackNerd Resolves Partial Power Outage in Los Angeles DC-03

RackNerd has marked the partial power outage at its Los Angeles DC-03 facility as resolved. The incident, opened at 17:53 PDT on October 16 (08:53 on October 17, Beijing time), took 33 host nodes offline, including LAXSSD4043DC03, DC03LA260KVM, LAXSSD9009DC03, DC03LA263KVM and the Windows node LAX012dc03WIN. Most nodes came back first, while the last dozen or so needed manual intervention before the final servers were restored. RackNerd did not give an exact recovery time. Customers whose VPS on these nodes is still unreachable should open a support ticket.
RackNerd Resolves Connectivity Outage on Four Dallas Nodes

The incident was opened at 07:19 PDT on October 16 (22:19 Beijing time), and RackNerd has since marked it resolved. Customers who still see problems on these nodes are asked to open a support ticket.

RackNerd New York Nodes Hit by Another Round of Brief Connectivity Outages

RackNerd's New York datacenter logged another series of connectivity incidents on five separate KVM nodes between 02:52 and 11:28 UTC on October 16: NYRN269KVM, NYRN101KVM, NYRN114KVM, NYRN123KVM and NYRN113KVM. All five incidents have been marked resolved, and RackNerd asks customers who still see problems to open a support ticket. This follows a similar run of short outages on New York nodes earlier this week.

Fifteen KVM host nodes were affected: SJ100KVM, SJ101KVM, SJ102KVM, SJ103KVM, SJ104KVM, SJ105KVM, SJ106KVM, SJ113KVM, SJ149KVM, SJ151KVM, SJ155KVM, SJ160KVM, SJ170KVM, SJ235KVM and SJ236KVM. Most nodes came back first, with a final few restored afterwards, and RackNerd has since marked the incident as resolved. Customers on these nodes who still see problems are advised to open a support ticket.
RackNerd New York Nodes Hit by Repeated Brief Connectivity Outages

RackNerd's status page logged three more connectivity outages on New York host nodes on October 14, affecting NYRN115KVM, NYRN208KVM and NYRN113KVM within a few hours; each was later marked resolved. Since October 9 RackNerd has recorded 12 such incidents across seven New York NYRN nodes, with NYRN115KVM and NYRN114KVM affected several times. RackNerd has not published a common cause. Customers with VPS in New York who see repeated drops can open a support ticket, as RackNerd advises.
RackNerd Completes Ashburn Electrical Maintenance; Affected Host Nodes Restored

RackNerd reports that the Ashburn facility electrical maintenance affecting about 23 host nodes has finished and services on those nodes are back online. The datacenter provider indicated no further interruptions related to this work are expected for the restored nodes. Maintenance in other sections of the Ashburn facility may still be scheduled later with advance notice. An official reason-for-outage note is expected once the facility provider supplies it.
